endrik has extensive experience in advising on a wide variety of property, planning, administrative law and local government matters, including providing general commercial and contract law advice across the property, mining and construction sectors. He is also an experienced commercial litigation and dispute resolution lawyer, having led a successful commercial litigation practice whist a partner at Van Hulsteyns Lawyers in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Hendrik’s experience in property and planning includes advising on various statutory instruments and controls affecting land use, including property law, planning and development laws, metropolitan and regional local planning schemes, local government legislation and planning policies, heritage controls, environmental controls and contaminated sites legislation.

Hendrik regularly represents land owners and property developers in relation to administrative review proceedings in the State Administrative Tribunal, advising on acquisitions, subdivisions and planning approvals and development of land, advising on various land transactions, including land sales contracts, off the plan sales contracts, leasing and subleasing agreements, vendor finance agreements, licensing agreements, land use agreements, infrastructure construction and cost sharing agreements, options and property development and management agreements,

Hendrik is also experienced in advising on compulsory land acquisitions and compensation, undertaking due diligence investigations in relation to the acquisition of land and potential subdivision and development, and advising on strata title matters.

Hendrik’s commercial and contract law experience includes advising, drafting and negotiating a wide range of transactional documents, including sale of business and sale of shares agreements, shareholders agreements, joint venture agreements and partnership agreements, whilst drawing on his broad commercial litigation experience to identify and advise on potential future litigation risks.
